Wood Dale Junior High Art Department
Welcome to Panther Art!
Hello, my name is Mr. Bruce and I am the art teacher at Wood Dale Jr. High School. I began my teacher career in 1993 in Barnesville, Ohio as the K-4 art teacher. From 1997-2000, also in Barnesville my focus was in 5-8 Developmentally Handicapped students. In the summer of 2000, I moved to Chicago and obtained my teacher certificate and began teaching at The Jewish Children's Bureau. While at the JCB therapeutic day school, my job description included teaching language arts, mathematics, history, science and life management/social skills to BD, MH and SBD students.
In 2004, I was presented with the opportunity to expand my horizons and gain career experience with teaching in the Los Angeles Unified School District. My position in 2004-2005 was teaching 6-12 art education at Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES). In 2005 I relocated back to Chicago for the opportunity to teach in Chicago Public Schools (CPS), at which time I was teaching K-8 art education at John Fiske Elementary School.
I have since found a new home in Wood Dale, IL. Beginning in 2006-2007, I was the elementary art teacher at Oakbrook and Westview elementary schools. In the Fall of 2007, I was introduced as the Junior High art teacher. Throughout my travels and teaching experiences, I have had the opportunity to gain the respect, understanding and appreciation for all types of student learners.
My experiences with living and teaching in the rural, urban and suburban settings throughout my career have allowed me to also become a more proficient learner of the various cultures and diverse settings that come with each location. I look forward to continuing to build positive relationships within the Wood Dale community and providing an exciting art experience for the students of Wood Dale, IL. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. You may use the contact information below to send directly to my email.
Go Panthers!
